OUR BODY VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

OUR BODY: THE UNIVERSE WITHIN is a very special exhibition and one which requires extra attention to ensure that the visitor experience is exceptional! We need more volunteers then ever throughout this exhibition, so this is the perfect time to get involved at the Mid-America Science Museum!

What Do We Need?

POSITION	DUTIES	POSITION DETAILS
Entrance Monitor	Monitor flow of guests Take tickets Distribute audio tours Give introduction and rules	Chair provided for sitting Position is not inside exhibit (do not have to interact with specimens) Sheet of rules provided (no memorization) Medium interactivity with guests
Exit Monitor	Relay number of guests leaving to Entrance Monitor (control flow) Reclaim audio tours Encourage visitors to sign comment book Keep track of visitors leaving for bathrooms, etc. Direct people to the rest of the museum	Chair provided for sitting Position is not inside exhibit (do not have to interact with specimens), but offers a view of some of the exhibit Medium interactivity with guests
Exhibit Monitors	Positioned throughout exhibit Enforce rules (especially no touching!) Answer visitor questions and provide basic explanations Engage visitors to further explore exhibit	Chair can be provided for sitting, but it is preferable that volunteers be able to walk through exhibit Position is inside exhibit: close contact with specimens High level of interactivity with guests: must be comfortable talking with people Knowledge/experience of/with anatomy and medical field a plus

Who Are We Looking For?

• Medical Professionals (active or retired) who are excited about sharing their secret, under-cover world and helping to explain the wonders of the body.
• High School/College Students with an interest in science, especially in the medical field (Bonus: this volunteerism looks great on applications!)
• Any one else interested in science, the human body and sharing knowledge who wants to join our EXCEPTIONAL team!
