Through Mid-America's Camp-in package, guests discover the unique experience of the museum after dark. With exclusive after hours access to the museum’s exhibits, a Camp-in provides an unforgettable adventure for curious minds and makes the perfect sleepover experience for birthday parties, family reunions, club trips, and Scout troops. Book an Overnight Camp-in Experience

UP TO 30 GUESTS $2,200
ADDITIONAL GUESTS $50 / per person

1 adult chaperone for every 5 children

Activities are designed for children ages 6 years of age and older.

Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance to secure a place. A reservation is not complete until you have received confirmation from the Mid-America Science Museum.

Your Camp-in experience will include:

  • A film and program in our Oaklawn Foundation Digital Dome Theater
  • Hours of private museum exploration
  • Hands-on learning activities
  • Pizza & salad dinner with fountain drinks or water
  • Continental breakfast including pastries, fruit, coffee, and juice
  • Space to set up camp anywhere on our lower level
  • Two science workshops of your choice

What to bring with you:

  • Additional snacks and beverages
  • Cots, sleeping bags, pillows, and blankets
  • A charging bank for phones
  • Extra battery supply for CPAPs*
  • Pajamas
  • Basic toiletries
  • Money for purchases at the Museum Store

*While we do provide electrical outlets, access is limited after lights out.

What about the Scouts?

Looking for a place to take your troop on their next badge exertion? We also provide camp-in packages with two workshops of your choice for your scouts to earn up to two badges.

Girl Scout Workshops Include:

  • Daisy Space Science Explorer
  • Brownie Space Science Adventurer
  • Junior Space Science Investigator
  • Cadette Space Science Researcher

Boy Scout Workshops Include:

  • Bear Cubs Super Science Badge
  • Webelos Adventures in Science

Overnight Stay Itinerary:

  • 4:30 pm Arrival: Check-in at the front desk. This is also your only opportunity to visit the Museum Store. Drop off bags in the downstairs classroom until the museum closes. Once your group has dropped off bags, please meet in the Oaklawn Foundation Digital Dome.

    • (time may vary depending on the show) Museum exploration
  • 6:00 pm - 6:30 pm: Dinner in the Snack Bar. Dinner is pizza & salad with fountain drinks & water
  • 6:30 pm - 7:00 pm: Museum exploration
  • 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm: Workshop
  • 8:00 pm - 8:30 pm: Museum exploration
  • 8:30 pm - 9:30 pm: Workshop. All outside doors locked at this time.
  • 9:30 pm -11:00 pm: Museum exploration
  • 11:00 pm: Lights out! You are welcome to set up camp anywhere on the lower level
  • 7:00 am: Lights on! Exhibits will be turned on. Please begin packing things up
  • 7:30 am: Breakfast in the Snack Bar. (Breakfast includes pastries, fruit, coffee, & juice)
  • 8:00 am - 9:00 am: Museum exploration & finish packing
  • 9:00 am: Check out time
