5th Annual mid-America Science Museum Science Scholarship
scholarship applications now available for 2019-2020
The mission of Mid-America Science Museum is to stimulate interest in science, to promote public understanding of the sciences, and to encourage life-long science education through process or inquiry-based, interactive exhibits and programs. The Mid-America Science Museum Scholarship is a program that continues that mission by awarding a graduating senior a $2000 scholarship to pursue a four-year college degree in science.
The recipient will be selected from a pool of applicants that respond to this announcement and will be chosen by the museum’s Education Department and the Board of Trustees. The 2019/2020 scholarship is open to all students who meet the following requirements:
Applicants must be seniors from a Hot Springs area district public high school graduating in 2020 with an interest in pursuing a science-related college degree. The recipient will be selected based on cumulative grade point average, leadership skills, and extra-curricular and volunteer activities. Extra-curricular activities dealing with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics will be a major factor in the selection process. Applicants must also provide two letters of recommendation along with this application, one must be from an instructor or teacher and one must be from a community leader.
Applicants should mail or submit completed applications and recommendation letters to: Attn: Scholarship Committee, Mid-America Science Museum, 500 Mid-America Blvd. Hot Springs, AR 71913, or e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications and letters are due by 5:00 PM on Monday, October 28th, 2019. The scholarship recipient must be present for the award presentation during the Museum’s annual Taste of the Holidays event on Thursday, November 21, 2019.
